I've always said you can't beat a good fish counter, and I was right. Although there was not a great deal of selection, there's enough to keep seafoodies happy. I went for a tub of the salmon & chive pate & it was delicious, it didn't last a day. The owners are doing their best with the space they have & we'll definitely be back.
Lovely toung man sold us some top quality dressed crabs which were delicious. Also bought some tuna steaks which look beautiful and fresh. Looking forward to those tomorrow. The stall was really well presented and kept in excellent condition, he also gave us ice to keep it cold on journey home.
Bought some Halibut here when trying a new dish. The service was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable, and I got really beautiful quality fish. I was even asked what I would be making and was advised it was a good choice but also given alternative options for the same dish for future. Super helpful with quality product available.

I am always impressed by the wonderful, warm and friendly service offered by Lara and her team at this stall in Durham. I regularly buy the shellfish platter and it never fails to impress. The crab, langoustines, crayfish tails, prawns and mussels are always fresh and delicious. Highly recommended!
Excellent range of freshly caught fish. I got the special for the day which was Cajun marinated white fish fillets with some garlic marinated king prawns included for free. Cooked and eaten as soon as I got home, delicious

A day earlier we had visited Amble and picked up our seafood supplies.. unfortunatley mostly frozen and 2 oysters ! Very disappointing. In contrast this place had a great range of fresh seafood ( and not a bloody great fridge packed with frozen prawns and scollops etc) We purchased a dozen oysters , the service was with a smile and the oysters were beautiful with bacon. Lesson learned... if you want quality fresh seafood and good service just call at Durham market .Owner response

Very good range of fish and excellent quality. A little more pricey than supermarkets as to be expected, but 100% worth it for the freshness and range of produce. Whole fish are filleted in front of you if you wish.
Excellent quality, good knowledgeable staff who will answer all questions and and cut the fish to your preference. I go here all the time and I am never dissapointed with the selection on offer, a must visit for all fish lovers.
I see a fresh fish delivery often on my way to work with the Cheese bread and cake stall opposite it's li like a great little Deli corner of the market.
Bought some fresh musels and was very happy with the price and quality, cannot wait to go again and buy something else
